탈무드 미쉬나 p19 (peah-7)

One who collected peah and said, “This is for so-and-o a poor man:” Rabbi Eliezer says: he has thus acquired it for him.

"어느 사람이 완두를 따다가 '이것은 가난한 사람 소-그리고-오에게 주는 것이다'라고 말했다. 랍비 엘리에제르는 말했다: '그러므로 그는 그것을 그 사람을 위해 취득했다.'"

 

The sages say: he must give it to the first poor man he finds. Gleanings, the forgotten sheaf and the peah of non-Jews are subject to tithes, unless he [the non-Jew] had declared them ownerless.  현자들은 말한다: 그는 가장 먼저 발견한 가난한 사람에게 그것을 주어야 한다. 이삭과, 잊혀진 단, 비유대인의 페아는  그[비유대인]가 소유권이 없다고 선언하지 않는 한 십일조의 대상이 된다.

  What are gleanings? That which falls down at the time of harvesting. 이삭이란 무엇입니까? 추수할 때 떨어지는 것을 말합니다. 

 

If while he was harvesting, he harvested a handful, or plucked a fistful, and then a thorn pricked him, and what he had in his hand fell to the ground, it still belongs to the owner.   추수할 때 한 줌이나 한 주먹을 뽑다가 가시에 찔려 손에 들고 있던 것이 땅에 떨어졌더라도 그것은 여전히 주인의 것입니다.

 

 [That which drops from] inside the hand or the sickle [belongs] to the poor, but [that which falls from] the back of the hand or the sickle [belongs] to the owner. [손 안이나 낫에서 떨어진 것은 가난한 자의 것이지만, 손등이나 낫에서 떨어진 것은 주인의 것이다.

 

[That which falls from] the top of the hand or sickle: Rabbi Ishmael says: to the poor; But Rabbi Akiva says: to the owner....  [손이나 낫의 꼭대기에서 떨어지는 것은 주인의 것이다: 랍비 이스마엘은: 가난한 자에게, 랍비 아키바는: 주인의 것이라고 말합니다.

 

[Grain found in] ant holes where the stalks are still standing, behold it still belongs to the owner. 개미구멍에서 발견된  줄기가 아직 서 있는 곡식은 여전히 주인의 것입니다.

 

After the harvesters [had passed over them], those found in the top parts [of the ant holes belong] to the poor, but [those found] on the bottom parts [belong] to the owner.  추수꾼들이 [개미구멍을 지나간] 후, [개미구멍의] 윗부분에서 발견된 것은 가난한 사람들의 것이지만, [개미구멍의] 아랫부분에서 발견된 것은 주인의 것입니다.

 

Rabbi Meir says: it all belongs to the poor, for gleanings about which there is any doubt are regarded as gleanings....
랍비 메이르는 이렇게 말합니다: 어떠한 의심이 가는  수확물은  이삭으로 간주되기 때문에 모두 가난한 자의 것이니까요....

 

Chapter 5 (5장)

  If a pile of grain was stacked [on part of a field] from which gleanings had not yet been collected, whatever touches the ground belongs to the poor.   아직 거두어지지 않은 밭의 일부에 곡물 더미가 쌓여 있었을 때, 그 더미에서 땅에 떨어진 곡식은  가난한 사람들이 거두어 갈 수 있는 권리가 있습니다.

 

If the wind scattered the sheaves, they estimate the amount of gleanings the field would have yielded and they give that  to the poor. 바람에 의해 곡식 단이 흩어졌다면, 그 밭에서 수확할 수 있는 곡식의 양을 추정하여 가난한 자에게 준다. 

 

Rabban Shimon ben Gamaliel says: he must give to the poor the amount that would fall. 랍비 시몬 벤 가말리엘은 이렇게 말합니다: 떨어졌을 만큼만 가난한 사람들에게 주어야 합니다.

  The top of a single ear of grain [that remained] after the harvesting and its top touches the standing stalk  추수 후 남은 곡식인 이삭의 일부 윗부분 이 서 있는 줄기에 닿아 있어야 합니다:

: If it can be cut with the stalk, it belongs to the owner; But if not, it belongs to the poor. 그 줄기로 잘라낼 수 있으면 주인의 것이지만, 그렇지 않으면 가난한 자의 것이 된다. 

 If an ear of grain of gleanings that became mixed up with a stack of grain, [the owner] must tithe one ear of grain and give it to him [the poor].   추수한 곡식 이삭이 곡식 더미에 섞여 있으면 [주인은] 곡식 한 이삭을 십일조하여 그 [가난한 자]에게 주어야 한다 ....
